Unity College to host Earth Week themed poetry slam April 26

Apr 21, 2014

Unity College will host Imagine Unity Slam for the Future, an Earth Week themed poetry slam, on April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center. Unity College is located at 90 Quaker Hill Road in Unity.

Poets from across the United States will compete for prizes totaling $1,000.

The poetry slam is the second time in Maine poetry slam history that poets will compete for a large cash prize. There are many poets from diverse backgrounds who are already registered, representing people from a variety of ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and gender identities.

At the slam, artists who have never read will offer their work alongside poets who already have national and international competition experience.

The event will include 1, 2, and 3-minute poetry rounds for all ages. Competitors may register by e-mail at tnsmith09@gmail.com.

Known as America’s Environmental College, Unity College is hosting a full slate of Earth Week events at various locations on its campus located from April 14 to the Poetry Slam. A full listing of events is available online at www.unity.edu.
