Vikings hole impressive links win against EllsworthBelfast, Mount View fall in recent course action
All three Waldo County high school golf teams were in action Monday, Sept. 16, with Belfast, Mount View and Searsport looking to secure wins on the links.
The Vikings prevailed in their home match with Ellsworth under impressive circumstances, while Mount View and Belfast fell in their respective road matches.
The following is a recap of recent matches:

At Searsport Pines Golf Course Sept. 16, the Vikings bested the visiting Eagles by five strokes, despite playing with only three golfers.
While team scores are compiled by the low four individual scores from each squad for the nine holes, by rule, if a team has only three golfers, the fourth slot is filled with a score of 90, making the win over the Eagles more impressive.
Assistant SDHS coach Gerry French said it was “a real team effort this evening.”
“What this meant for Searsport tonight was the [golfer] who was absent has an average of 63,” he said. “Adding a 90 score means the three remaining players had to make up the difference of 27 strokes.”
Searsport's individual scores were: Alex Woodward 50, Rica Warren 54 and John Guerette 62.
Ellsworth's individual scores were: Lucas Day 51, Devon McDevitt 66, Dylan Murry 71, Trevor Varney 72 and Keith Eaton 84.
