Vikings participate in first PVC meet

Bangor — The Searsport track-and-field squad took part in a Penobscot Valley Conference meet on Friday, April 25 at Cameron Stadium, in an event that saw a handful of Vikings participate in various events.

The Viking girls placed eighth among 10 competing squads, while the Viking boys had no participants and thus did not score as a team.

Both the Bangor boys and girls were the winners on the day.

The girls team scores were: Bangor 171, Caribou 140, Old Town 135, Fort Kent 54, Dexter 31, Piscataquis of Guilford 21, Narraguagus of Harrington 20, Searsport 4, Washburn 2 and Greenville 1.

The boys team scores were: Bangor 158, Old Town 147.5, Caribou 140.5, Dexter 46, Fort Kent 26, Greenville 25, Narraguagus 16 and Piscataquis 4.

The individual Searsport girls results included:

1,600 meters— 7, Ida Eriksson, 6:33.16.

100-meter hurdles — 5, Paige Ireland, 20.36.

300-meter hurdles — 6, Ireland, 1:00.65; and 7, Eriksson, 1:00.89.

Shot put — 14, Madison Philbrick, 19-07.

Discus — 6, Alyssa Burkard, 64-11; and 14, Philbrick, 52-0.

Javelin — 8, Eriksson, 71-0; and 17, Burkard, 52-5.
