Vikings participate, Red Riots dominant in PVC meet

Searsport girls seventh among nine teams

Orono — The Searsport boys and girls track-and-field teams competed in a Penobscot Valley Conference regular-season meet on Wednesday, May 21 on the University of Maine Beckett Family Track.

The event saw the Orono boys and girls defend their home area with relative ease.

The Red Riots eclipsed 200 points and earned team victories, while the Searsport girls scored 10 points to finish seventh among nine squads. The Viking boys did not score as a team.

Competing, along with Orono and Searsport, were Hermon, John Bapst of Bangor, Narraguagus  of Harrington, Penquis of Milo, Piscataquis of Guilford, Central of East Corinth and Greenville.

The girls team scores were: Orono 210, Hermon 167, John Bapst 59, Penqius 29, Narraguagus 28, Central 23, Searsport 10, Piscataquis 2 and Greenville no score.

The boys team scores were: Orono 213, Central 134, Hermon 101, John Bapst 42, Penquis 29, Narraguagus 16, Greenville 15 and Searsport and Piscataquis no score.

The individual Searsport girls results included:

100 meters — 19, Alivia Cross, 16.36.

400 meters — 7, Ida Eriksson, 1:09.81.

Long jump — 8, Eriksson, 13-4.25.

Javelin — 1, Alicen Brooks, 96-6; 14, Eriksson, 63-09; 21, Alyssa Burkard, 52-8; and 27, Cross, 46-1.

Discus — 8, Burkard, 67-11; 17, Eriksson, 60-1; and 30, Cassie Donald, 41-9.

The individual Searsport boys results included:

100 meters — 33, Logan Staples, 14.48.

1,600 meters — 9, Jacob Powell, 5:25.77.

800 meters — 8, Powell, 2:25.60.

Discus — 17, Mikhail Kroening, 69-8.

Shot put — 16, Kroening, 23-10.25.
