Waldo County all stars ready to rumble

County squads off to fast starts with opening Distrit 2 tourney wins

The Waldo County Little League baseball season has drawn to a close, which ushers in the start of the District 2 all-star campaign.

After a bundle of recent exhibition games, the 11- and 12-year-old tourney season began Sunday, July 1. Rockland, Lincoln County, Camden-Rockport, Knox Suburban, Waldoboro and Waldo County will participate in the District 2 tournament. The winner will represent the district in the state tournament, which will begin on Friday, July 20 in Bar Harbor.

The 10-11 tournament will begin with an exhibition game on Saturday, July 7, while the tournament is slated to begin on Saturday, July 14. The winner will represent the district in the state tournament, which will begin on Saturday, July 28 in Waldoboro. There are only two teams in the district, Camden-Rockport and Waldo County.

After a bundle of recent exhibition games, the 9-10 tournament began June 28. Rockland, Waldo County, Lincoln County, Waldoboro, Knox Suburban and Camden-Rockport will participate in the district tournament. The winner will represent the district in the state tournament, which will begin Saturday, July 14 in Scarborough.

The following are the players and coaches for Waldo County squads in the District 2 tournaments:

11-12s — Kenney Brewer-Frazee, Liam Cail, Joey Danna, Colby Furrow, Eric Gower, Dean Grass, Connor Kneeland, Liam MacMillan, Ben Powell, Brnadon Reynolds, Emmett Shell and Chris Evans. The team is managed by Monica Furrow and coached by Wally Furrow and Otis Kneeland.

10-11s — Garrett Butler, Logan Curtis, George Dakin, Christopher Dodge, Damion Doughty, Dylan Denardo, Cole Frey, Darrett Fowler, Neal Kenney, William Russell, Max Tomlin and Matt Kelley. The team is managed by Jim Butler and coached by Dan Curtis and D.J. Frye.

9-10s — Charlie Spiegel, Kergan Perkins, Matthew Southard, Riley Boulay, Colby Snow, Michael Stanhope, Ethan Quimby, Wyatt Harriman, Daegan Moody, Hayden Hunt, Tanner Veilleux and Alex Fountain. The team is managed by Adam Perkins and coached by Roddy Ronco and Darrin Moody.
