Waldo County Extension annual meeting Sept. 9
Waldo — The Waldo County Extension Association will hold its annual meeting Monday, Sept. 9, at 5:45 p.m. at the Waldo County Technical Center located at 1022 Waterville Road.
The theme of this year's annual meeting will be to highlight the innovative garden project that was adopted at Islesboro High School this past year by teacher Ryan Martin.
The annual meeting will be part of a training being offered to high school and middle school teachers to discover ways that they might be able to utilize the Maine Master Gardener training materials as part of their science and math curriculum while using school gardens as their laboratory. Teachers who wish to participate in the daylong training, should contact Vina Lindley at email@example.com. One continuing education credit is being offered for participation in the training. All costs will be covered by the Waldo County Extension Association.
Following the evening training and roundtable discussion, Waldo County Executive Association members and audience members will be invited to engage in a discussion of how the Association can support and augment these school garden projects. UMaine Extension is one of many area agencies that provide community and economic development services to the citizenry of Waldo County by putting research-based knowledge to work in the homes, businesses, farms, and communities of each county.
The Waldo County Extension Association holds this annual meeting each year to approve a budget for 2014 as well as elect new officers and members.
