Waldo County Extension Association announces scholarship
The Waldo County Extension Association announced the availability of a $500 scholarship available to a graduating Waldo County high school senior planning to pursue a higher education.
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit a 500-1000 word essay — typed and double-spaced — that discusses in what ways, if any, they have been involved with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, their employment history, any community service or volunteer work related to their future field of study, and what they hope to do after completing their education. Preference will be given to students who intend to serve the community in the fields associated with the mission of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension such as agriculture, horticulture, home economics, nutrition, preventative health, health education, youth development, early childhood education and adult education.
The evaluation criteria do not include student performance records or GPA information. Students can access complete information at www.umaine.edu/waldo.
The deadline for scholarship applications is April 5, 2013.
