Waldo County squads falter on links in recent matchesSearsport competes in PVC meet Sept. 26
It has been a rough few days for Waldo County high school golf squads, with Belfast, Mount View and Searsport unable to earn a notch in their respective win columns.
The final day of the regular season for local squads is Wednesday, Oct. 2 with playoff golf to begin the following week.
For Belfast and Mount View, the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A and B qualifier will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, with the top five teams in Class A and the top five teams in Class B qualifying for the team championships, to be Saturday, Oct. 12. Both events will be on the Tomahawk Course at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.
For Searsport, the Penobscot Valley Conference Championship and the PVC qualifier was held Thursday, Sept. 26 at Jato Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln. The PVC will qualify the top three teams in Class B and the top three teams in Class C for its respective state championships.
The state Class C championships will be Saturday, Oct. 12 on the Arrowhead Course at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.
The individual schoolboy and schoolgirl championships for those who qualify will be Saturday, Oct. 19 at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

Hampden Academy 168, Mount View 187
At Hampden Sept. 25, the Broncos galloped to victory over the Mustangs.
The individual results from the team's road match with the Broncos, with Mount View golfers listed first, were: Erik Larrabee (37) beat Luke Heresey (43); Ross Delorenzo (47) lost to Jacob Gran (42); Cay Outerbridge (50) lost to Brandon Millett (42); Robert Dyer (61) tied Eric Armstrong (61); Wes Turner (60) lost to Dylan Cray (41); and Cassidy Gerrish (53) lost to Tyler Arbo.
Larrabee, who shot 37, earned medalist honors.
Brewer 159, Belfast 188
At Traditions Golf Course in Brewer Sept. 23, the Witches kept the Lions winless on the year as they prevailed by 29 strokes.
The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Alex Fritz (44) lost to Evan Riva (39); Grant Starrett (51) lost to Tyler Williams (39); Peter Brunette (77) lost to Zach Torrey (39); Logan Mitchell (45) beat Tyler Brooks (49),;Doyle Bailey (48) lost to Sam Hafford (47); and Josh Adams (55) lost to Kirk Small (42).
Riva, Williams and Torrey shot 39 and were tri-medalists.
Bangor 166, Mount View 196
At Country View Golf Course in Brooks Sept. 23, the Rams prevailed by 30 strokes over the host Mustangs.
The individual results, with Mount View golfers listed first, were: Erik Larrabee (42) lost to Drew Powell (37); Ross Delorenzo (51) lost to Liam Reading (42)\; Cay Outerbridge (50) lost to Rye Powell (45); Robert Dyer (55) lost to Andrew Hiller (49); Wes Turner (64) lost to Jordan Treadwell (45); and Cassidy Gerrish (53) lost to Joey Muir (42).
Powell shot 37 and was the medalist.
Ellsworth 237, Searsport 243
At Bar Harbor Golf Course Sept. 23, the Eagles won a closely-contested match by six strokes over the Vikings.
With only three golfers playing in the match, the Vikings were forced to take a fourth score of 72 to make up their four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total. It is the second time this season Searsport has had only three golfers for a match.
Searsport's individual scores were: John Guerette 53, Rica Warren 57 and Alex Woodward 61.
Ellsworth's individual scores were: Lucas Day 55, Bryce Scott 56, Devon McDevitt 62, Trevor Varney 64, Keith Eaton 65, Ryan Fitzgerald 67 and Brian Clark 67.
Guerette shot 53 to earn medalist honors.
Maine Central Institute 158, Belfast 206
At Northport Golf Club Sept. 20, the Huskies had no trouble with the host Lions, who remained winless.

Pearl shot 36 to earn medalist honors.
George Stevens Academy 192, Calais 221, Searsport 248
At Castine Country Club Sept. 19, the Vikings were downed by the Eagles and Blue Devils in a tri-match.
Searsport's individual scores were: Alex Woodward 58, Rica Warren 62, John Guerette 63 and Tyler Kendall 65.
Calais' individual scores were: Jack Lander 49, Nick Hallowell 51, Greg Mitchell 53, Keegan Newman 63, Jackson Greenlaw 65, John Lapointe 65, Zachary Gray-Kelly 65 and Dominic Gayton 72
George Stevens Academy's individual scores were: C.J. Chen 45, Alex Heilner 47, Joe Maier 49, David Reinke 51, Brett Ingraham 55, Gordon Lameyer 65, Dakota Chipman 71.
