Waldo teen allegedly threatens relatives with knife, screwdriver
Waldo — An 18-year-old girl was arrested Thursday night, April 6, after a family dispute allegedly prompted her to threaten two of her relatives with a knife and a screwdriver.
Mikaela Slagger, 18, of Waldo was arrested on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon following the incident, according to records at the Waldo County Sheriff's Office.
Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said the trouble apparently started when one of the girl's relatives offered her some advice about personal hygiene.
Instead of heeding the advice, Trafton said, Slagger became angry and engaged in an argument with her relative, as well as a second family member in the household, who Trafton described as an elderly woman. As the argument escalated, Trafton said Slagger brandished a knife, and later a screwdriver, and she threatened to harm both of her relatives with those items.
Slagger then left the scene for a brief time, and her family reported the incident to police.
No one was hurt during the incident, Trafton said.
Slagger is scheduled to appear at Waldo County Superior Court in Belfast Thursday, May 29.
