We The People Maine, the citizen initiative for a constitutional amendment declaring that corporations are not people and money is not speech, will have volunteers collecting signatures statewide on Primary Day, June 10.

Petition circulators will be at the polls in nearly 100 towns from Lubec to Kittery, including every precinct in Portland. Many of the volunteers will be wearing T-shirts saying, “Get Money Out of Politics,” as the petition drive seeks to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United and McCutcheon decisions and curb the vast amounts of money spent on political campaigns.

The campaign has two websites for more information, wethepeoplemaine.org and wethepeoplemaine.me. Contact Naomi Cohen at WeThePeopleMaine@aol.com and 790-1398; or Steve Burke at info@WeThePeopleMaine.org and 691‑0322.
