Wildlife carvings, images at the Boathouse
Belfast — The 2014 edition of the Maine Coast Competition will take place over the weekend of July 11 through 13 at the Belfast Boathouse, Front Street on the waterfront. Sponsored by the Penobscot Bay Carvers and Artists Association, the show is in its 26th year of presenting carvings and artwork.
Entries for the competition will be received Friday, July 11, from noon to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, July 12, from 7 to 9 a.m. The show is open to the public Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no entrance fee.
There are three divisions open for entry —carving, art and photography. All types of carvings, artwork and photographs of wildlife or Maine coastal scenery are accepted. Artwork must be ready to hang.
A raffle of several items either carved or made by members of the association will be held with the drawing Sunday afternoon. Tickets are $1, six for $5.
Club members will be available to answer any questions and some of our carvers will be working on their own carvings while the show goes on. The Boathouse is just a short walk from the Arts in the Park, going on in Heritage Park the same weekend. For more information, call 338-5309 or 789-5363.
