Winning family affair for Trapanis in Harbor View 5K

Siblings finish as first male, female runners in Penobscot Bay YMCA event

Rockport — Fifty-three runners and eight walkers — along with one fast winner and a real family dynamic — was the scenario Saturday morning, June 16 as the Penobscot Bay YMCA sponsored its 13th annual Harbor View 5-Kilometer Road Race/Walk.

Ben Trapani, 16, of Rockport was the overall winner, as he outdistanced the field by several minutes. He finished the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes and nine seconds, with a 5:51 per-mile pace.

Luke Snow, 34, of Spruce Head finished second at 20:45. The first female finisher was Trapani's younger sister, Emma, 13, of Rockport, who was 12th overall in 23:37.

The event was held in breezy, cloudy, 55-degree temperatures. The course led runners/walkers through rolling hills near Rockport Harbor before coming through town and finishing at the YMCA.
