Winona Florence Miller
Winona Florence Miller was born in Waldo on April 4, 1924, to Theodore John Williams and Lillian Viola (Braddock) Williams. She died on July 23 at Bangor Hospital.
She lived her early life in Waldo and Belfast. She worked in Belfast shoe factories and as a retail clerk in several stores while raising a family.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo, as it opened the door to making friends because she was quite shy.
In 1980 she began wintering in Florida with her husband Harry Nash. After a few years, she lived there full time until 2011 when declining health necessitated her move back to Maine to be closer to her children.
She was predeceased by four husbands, her son Terry Reynolds and a grandson Jason Reynolds.
Winona will be greatly missed by her surviving family and friends. Daughter Shirley Cushman, of Belmont; son Michael Reynolds and partner Anna Burpee, of Bucksport; step-daughter Rhonda Murchison and husband Ron, of Bangor; brother Alton Williams and partner Madeline Ireland, of Buxton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; also, special friends Ruth True of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Nathan Jackson of Ridgeway, Va.
Donations may be made in Winona's name to Waldo County YMCA or the Little River Food Pantry in Belfast.
There will be a graveside celebration for family and friends scheduled at a later date in Lincoln, Maine, where her ashes will be interred.
