When you set your clocks ahead one hour the weekend of March 9-10 be sure to check or change your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.  This is very important.                                                                                                                               ROSIE is back with limited hours, Thurs-Sun,  7 am-noon.  More info later.                                                                                                                                         Ellingwoods Corner United Methodist Church, Rte 69 and Monroe Road  will have the Thrift Shop open Sat. March 8 from 9 a.m. til 2 p.m.  A FREE lunch from 11:00 a.m until it is gone.  Join your neighbors and friends for lunch and socializing to relieve the winter blues.  Free coffee, games and a baked goods sale.  This is the second in a series of free lunches to thank the community for their support.  Donations are accepted but not required.  We want people in all situations to come for a few hours of laughs and catching up.  We will have a St Patrick's Day theme.  For more information call Deb Calderwood  234-2762                                                                                                                                     Winterport Historical Association will meet March 10th at the Victoria Grant Civic Center at 6:30 p.m with a pot luck.  Remember to bring your place settings.  The guest speaker is Jon Johansen, Publisher of Maine Coastal News.   He will be telling about Shipbuilding in Maine.                                                                                                                                    There is a Parent Planning Meeting, Tues. Mar.11 at 6:30 pm at the Wagner Middle School making plans for the 8th grade class trip to Boston.                                               The Wagner Middle School will present a play on March 13 and 14  at 7:00 p.m.                                                                                                                                        The Show Choir and the Jazz Band have both qualified for the state competition.  The Show Choir will perform March in Ellsworth and the Jazz Band will perform in Westbrook.  Good luck to each group.                                                                                                                                       John and Crescent(Moran) Chasteen of Michigan welcomed their first child Grayson Quinton Edward Chasteen ,  Feb. 23.   Maternal grandparents George and Cindy Moran, Winterport,  and Terrilyn Simpson ,  Winthrop.  Paternal grandparents are John  and Joanna  Chasteen of Florida  Maternal great grandmother Ruth Moran, Winterport, .                                                                                                                                           The weather everywhere this winter has been raising havoc with most every state.   It will be nice when spring gets here .  It has always been said " Don't mess with Mother Nature"  It sure seems someone must have and she is finally lashing back.
