A yard sale is being held Fr. Apr.25th from 12:00 noon until 6 p.m and again Sat. Apr. 26th from 8:00 a.m  until 3:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Winterport Library.  This is a fund raiser for the Destination Imagination team from The Leroy Smith School in Winterport.  The Freezing Diamonds team earned the right to travel to Destination Imagination's Global Finals to be held May 21-24 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.  The team received  the highest score for the instant challenge, and were honored with the Spirit of DI Award.  Team members are:  Elizabeth, Renee, Gracie, Sam, Olivia, Carly  and JoHannah, fourth graders from the Leroy H. Smith School, RSU22.  The Winterport team needs to raise approximately $10,000  for the team and chaperones to attend the competition,     On Monday, May 5,  Anglers in Hampden will donate 10% of their proceeds between 5 and 8 p.m.   On Thurs. May 8th Sweet Frog will donate 20% of their proceeds between 3-7 p.m.                                                                                                                                          Good news for golfers.  Streamside Golf course will open Fri. May 2 at 8 a.m. Carts, food , beverages are all available.  Get out and enjoy the game, meet up with old friends and meet new friends as well.  Location: Rte 139 Winterport.                                                                                                                              The Winterport American Legion Post #138 is holding its annual compost sale.  Sat. May 10th from 9-2 at the Winterport Fire Station on Main St.  The compost is great for potted plants and garden beds.  $5.00 a bag.                                                                                                                                         "Pants on Fire 5K Beer Run/ walk and kids fun run" is to raise funds for the Winterport Fire and Rescue Depts.  It is being held on June 28th.  It is $15.00 for pre-race registration and $20.00 on race day at 8 a.m.  Race starts at 9:00 a.m.  Award Ceremony and beer tent at 10:30. It will be timed using official timing equipment.  There are several  catagories,  age groups,  fastest runner with a dog,  fastest runner with a stroller.  There will be medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.   Looking for volunteers and sponsors.
