It is a little nippy out today. Just back from walking my dog; the temp is 3 above 0 and it is nearly noontime.

I always thought cold weather or snowstorms helped get rid of the flu, but it sure isn't helping this year. Any of you folks who have it, I hope you get well soon.

From the Town Office, this is the final notice before the late fee takes effect on the dog licenses. It will cost an extra $25 come Feb. 1.

Also, the Town Office would like people to send in pictures of Winterport, older ones or up-to-date ones, for the cover of the town report. You can send via e-mail to winterportme@roadrunner.com or mail in snapshots. If you want your picture back send a self-addressed stamped envelope. Don't hesitate, do it now.

A reminder to parents -- the school students' report cards are coming home soon and there is no school Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

There are still a few people in town who will remember Sylvia Alley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Maurice Alley, mailman and teacher. Sylvia passed away Jan. 14 in Connecticut, and her husband, Howard Gray, passed away Jan. 6, also in Connecticut. Sympathy is extended to all their friends and family.

Sympathy is also extended to the Bedard family, who lost a daughter unexpectedly while in the hospital. Mickie Bedard was in for surgery, which was successful, and then she left us. Words cannot express the loss this created. Family and many friends are expressing their sorrow. Rest in peace, Mickie.
