The chairman of the Frankfort Withdrawal Committee confirmed Tuesday, Jan. 15, that the local Board of Selectmen voted in favor of forwarding the plan detailing the departure to the School Administrative District 22 Board of Directors for consideration.

Frankfort Withdrawal Committee Chairman Gabe Baker said Frankfort selectmen made that decision at a regular meeting Monday night, Jan. 14, and the next step involves waiting to see if SAD 22 will accept the withdrawal plan.

"If the board accepts the plan it will go on to the [education] commissioner for conditional approval," said Baker.

If the plan gains approval at the state level, Baker said, Frankfort voters would likely cast their final votes on the withdrawal plan at the end of March, with the three towns of SAD 22 voting soon after.

Prior to the referendum votes, Baker said Frankfort residents would have opportunities to ask questions and express concerns about the withdrawal from RSU 20 and the potential merger with SAD 22 at public hearings that will be held sometime during the weeks prior to the vote.

Not much of a story. No detail. What of the future?
