Women wax poetic for March jam

Mar 08, 2014

Belfast — The bi-monthly Poetry Jam is being commandeered to celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month Friday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at Bell the Cat, 15G Starrett Drive.

Hosted by past Belfast Poet Laureate, and longtime feminist activist, Karin Spitfire, the evening will be an informal round-robin of poems. Readers of all genders are welcome, and so are musicians and singers.

Spitfire challenges all poets and invites everyone to read, to bring work by their favorite female poets and see “how many different countries and nationalities of women’s voices we can cram into one night.”
