Not too long ago Facebook and Skype were the domain of high school and college-aged kids. Today, everyone seems to be using Facebook and Skype. So what are Facebook or Skype, you ask? Facebook and Skype are all about connecting, sharing and communicating with people, family, friends and colleagues around the world. Did you know that Facebook and Skype can even fight depression and help to stave off memory loss?
In Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center’s winter break Facebook and/or Skype workshops on February 22 at 1:15 p.m. with the Millett teens (Sam, Rob and Jake), you will learn how to set up an account, add people to your social network, establish your profile, add applications, set security levels, join groups, and more. With Facebook you can share photographs, videos and stories. With Skype you can see the person as you are speaking with them. All for free.
Do you want to try out Facebook or Skype to connect with family and friends? If you are curious about what Facebook or Skype are or if you have been asked to be someone’s Facebook “friend” or to use Skype video technology to make a telephone call but didn’t know where or how to begin, these workshops are for you. Bring your laptop computer or I-Pad and join the Millett teens for the Coastal Center’s holiday Facebook and Skpye workshops on February 22 beginning at 1:15 p.m., The triplets will be going through the most important and useful aspects of accessing Facebook and Skype’s free websites and downloadable software in an interactive and fun way. Call 563-1363 to register for one or both of the Millett teen’s classes. $5 per class or $8 if you register and participate in both sessions (Facebook and Skype). Spectrum Generations Coasal Community Center, which is located at 521 Main Street in Damariscotta, is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance to the building.
