The Lincolnville Historical Society Schoolhouse Museum is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Curator Connie Parker will be on hand to show you around and help you do any search for artifacts or photos or genealogy.

If you have Lincolnville roots you can explore our family albums and perhaps discover relatives you didn't know you had. If your roots are elsewhere, but your home is here our photos of old houses may include yours. Or if you are just interested in local history we have a lot to share.

The School House Museum of the Lincolnville Historical Society is located on the second floor of the 1892 building known as the Beach School. Class for all eight grades was held in this room until 1947 when the town of Lincolnville built a consolidated school five miles inland in Lincolnville Center.

The School House Museum maintains a diverse collection of Native American artifacts recovered by local residents along Ducktrap Harbor and elsewhere within the region. It also serves as the repository for numerous archaeological collections of Native American pottery, rare and unusual stone tools, and other materials Mr. Harbour Mitchell has recovered in his professional efforts in the field. The Museum’s collections represent the period from European settlement of the bay to at least 5000 years ago.

Check out our "Ancestors Wall" at the top of the stairs, framed portraits of some early Lincolnville residents. The front of the schoolroom has a blackboard, which was uncovered during restoration of room. Visitors who once attended school here sign the board. The clock is from another Lincolnville schoolhouse, the Wiley School. Whenever possible displays of memorabilia focus on the person who owned them, and tell something of his/her life.
