As the 2nd session of the 125th Maine Legislature unfolds, representatives and senators from across the state are being asked to cast their vote for or against LR 2678—the proposed DHHS Supplemental Budget. Proposed cuts and changes will have a far reaching impact on MaineCare eligibility, medical services for the elderly and people with disabilities, services for children and families and extremely vulnerable populations, as well as the work of the Healthy Maine Partnerships.
How did Maine’s Healthcare, Medicare/Medicaid, and MaineCare system reach this point? How does the federal government’s Affordable Care act come into play? What challenges do we need to overcome? What will the long term effect will the posed changes have on your and your families health and welfare, now and in the future? Where will the resources that we need in order to live healthy lifestyles and care for those in need come from?
Come, listen, learn and express your thoughts on the Future of Health, Wellness and Prevention in Maine on Friday, February 3 at 9:30am. Join community members at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main Street in Damariscotta. Join community leaders, legislators, friends, family and colleagues for an interactive community conversation about the proposed changes currently being debated by the Maine legislature, pro and con. Brenda Hamilton, Director of Healthy Lincoln County – Healthy Maine Partnership, Jini Lewis, Public Health Nurse, and Representative Les Fossel, member of the legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee will be offering their perspective on the impact of the proposed changes on the residents of Lincoln County.
Learn how to share your thoughts with legislators. In Maine your calls and letters to your local legislators does make a difference. Express your thoughts ask questions and make sure your voice is heard. Snacks and beverages provided.

This conversation, which was originally scheduled to take place on January 12, was canceled due to our area’s snow storm.
