Charlotte Taylor, 89, died Dec. 17, 2009, at the Knox Center for Long Term Care.

Charlotte was born in Skowhegan June 20, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Dickinson) McIntyre. Following the death of her mother, Charlotte was raised by her stepmother, Edith McIntyre.

Charlotte lived most of her life in Maine, and in her younger years she owned a small grocery store in Thorndike. After returning to this area and raising her children she worked for many years at Camden Nursing Home. She was later sought after to do private-duty care in the Midcoast, and continued to do this until her retirement.

She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Charlotte was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was loved and respected by those who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, siblings and son-in-law, George Oxton.

Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Carol Oxton of Searsport and Susan Gremmels of Camden; a son, David Taylor, of Warren; three grandsons, Wayne Oxton and his wife, Lisa, of Belfast, Jason Taylor and his partner, Rose, of Morrison, Colo., and Christopher White of Camden; a granddaughter, Sara Downie, of Camden; two great-grandsons, Wayne Oxton and his partner, Ciera, of Vinalhaven and Dillon Oxton of Belfast; a great-great-grandson, Marcus Wayne Oxton of Vinalhaven; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be announced in the spring.
