Madelyn (McConchie) Benner, 85, of Bradenton, Fla., and Rockland died Dec. 18, 2009.
Born in Ash Point, Maine, on Sept. 30, 1924, she lived in Rockland until 1984 when she moved with her husband, LeRoy, to Bradenton.
Madelyn was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Leroy McConchie; a sister, Athleen Pease; and her brothers, Arnold and Nathan McConchie.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, LeRoy; three daughters, Trudy Abshire and her husband, Jack of Richmond, Ky., Janie Bissonnette and her husband, Jerry, of Lewiston and Jacqueline Curtis and her husband, Randall, of Belfast; a brother, Irving “Mike” McConchie and his wife, Gerry, of Owls Head; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Madelyn worked in Rockland as a dietary aide, telephone operator and school crossing guard, and operated a dog-grooming business. She also volunteered as a coach for youth basketball and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Congregational Church in Rockland.
Services will be in late July in Rockland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice or TideWell Hospice in Sarasota, Fla.
