The Searsport District High School boys and girls basketball teams hoped for a late Christmas present in the form of victories, as the Viking boys traveled to Millinocket Tuesday to battle the Minutemen, while the Viking girls hosted Stearns Wednesday.

In the end, both Viking squads wound up with nothing but coal in their stockings at the conclusion of both Eastern Class C games as the Minutemen notched a pair of convincing victories.

The Viking boys (2-6) dropped a 74-32 decision at Millinocket Tuesday, while the Viking girls (1-7) came up short at home Wednesday, falling 44-14.

Boys game

On Tuesday in Millinocket, the Vikings trailed 30-4, 49-18 and 66-25 at the quarter breaks.

Dillon Moody led Searsport with eight points, while James Seekins and Rocky Faunce each added seven; Evan Kingsbury, five; Allen Connor, three; and Tim French, two.

Garen Manzo had 20 points to key unbeaten Stearns (5-0), while Brandon McLaughlin added 11.

Girls game

On Wednesday in Searsport, the Vikings trailed 13-2, 27-8 and 36-12 at the quarter breaks.

Olivia Quigley paced the Vikings with six points, while Katherine Cotter, Brooke Bagley, Megan Parker and Emily Gillotti each added two.

Kirsten Marter led the Minutemen (4-2) with 13 points.
