Edward Sylvester, 72, died Dec. 22, 2009, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He died of pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and malnutrition after a short stay in the hospital.

He was born in Unity, Dec. 5, 1937, to Percy and Louise (Moreau) Sylvester. He worked at the Log Drive in Winslow, Penobscot Poultry in Belfast and for the last 30 years, he cut firewood.

His five sisters, Christine Bishop of Pittsfield, Thelma Bishop of Unity, Helen Dawson of Troy, Marie and her husband, Ralph Bishop, of Troy, and Barbara Cote of Winthrop, survive him. He thought a lot of a special cousin, Steve Anderson, of Unity.

There will be no funeral services per Ed’s wishes. His two brothers will bury him at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom this spring. Direct Cremation of Maine is handling arrangements.
