An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County during the past week. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

Dec. 29

Trooper Chris Crawford and Trooper Jason Madore responded to a report of a suspicious male on Lincolnville Avenue in Searsmont. The complainant reported a male had been pacing back and forth in front of a residence. The area was checked and no one was located.

Crawford and Madore investigated a car and deer crash on Route 7 in Waldo. Investigation revealed a deer had run into the side of a vehicle, causing minor damage.

Crawford and Madore responded to a report of an alarm at Thompson’s Variety on Waterville Road in Waldo. The building was checked and found to be secure.

Dec. 31

Trooper Donald Webber responded to a report of a 911 hang-up on Turner Ridge Road in Palermo. The investigation revealed a verbal domestic dispute and no charges were filed.

Jan. 1

Trooper Bethany Couturier responded to a report of gunshots shortly after midnight on the Weymouth Road in Morrill. The complainant called back to report it was fireworks and the area was checked and no one was located.

Couturier and Trooper James Leonard responded to a report of an out-of-control 18-year-old on Augusta Road in Morrill. Investigation revealed Corey Lawson of Rockport assaulted two people and was summoned for assault.

Jan. 2

Couturier investigated a harassment complaint in Belfast. Investigation revealed the complainant had been receiving harassing text messages from another female in Union. The female in Union was located and warned on harassment.

Jan. 3

Trooper Ryan Brockway investigated a vehicle crash involving a Waldo County Sheriff’s cruiser. Investigation revealed the Waldo cruiser and a four-wheeler operated by Bernard Thomas, 69, had collided on Shibles Road in Knox. No one was injured and Thomas was charged with operating an ATV on a public way and operating an unregistered ATV.
