Students at the Wagner Middle School in Winterport sold candy canes this fall to raise money for Eastern Maine Medical Center’s new Lafayette Cancer Care Center and research facility in Brewer. Sponsored by the Student Council, the fund-drive raised $275 by selling more than 500 candy canes. Council President Aaron Newland, second from right, and Kierra Speed, second from left, a member of the Council, presented the results of the fund drive to Town Councilor Joe Books, left, and Winterport State Rep. Mike Thibodeau Dec. 22.
