This week marked the end of a 30-plus-year career for Bangor Daily News reporter Walter Griffin, as he retired from the job that made him one of the more recognizable faces in Waldo County.

We wish him the best of luck, and as fellow writers, we hope he might still pen a few stories while enjoying his well-earned retirement. We’d hate to think this is the last we’ll read from Walter, as he was obviously in a profession that was fitting for him, and we look forward to seeing him around Belfast, too.

The same goes for Detective Mike McFadden, who will soon leave a 19-year career with the Belfast Police Department behind to embark on a new chapter of his professional life with the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Having published many stories about cases Mike has helped solve over the years, we know he’ll represent Waldo County well, and we wish him all the best in his new endeavor.
