The Midcoast Ice Cats could not hold a 3-1 lead and had to settle for a 3-3 tie with the Gardiner junior varsity squad in Saturday afternoon’s high school ice hockey game at the Midcdoast Recreation Center.

The Ice Cats, a cooperative club team that includes student-athletes from Rockland, Medomak Valley, Belfast and Mount View high schools, sit at 6-3-2.

On Saturday, the visiting Tigers held a 28-19 edge in shots. Aaron Daniello made 25 saves, including nine in the first and third periods and seven in the second. Gardiner goalie Garrett Benson had 16 stops, including eight in the third period.

Scoring for the Ice Cats were Yannick Price-Prevot, Tyler Hadyniak and Stephen Hand, with assists from to Kyle Hadyniak and Jacob Perry.

Knocking the puck in the net for the Tigers were Seth Wing with two goals and Bryant Whitley one. Josh Moors added two assists and Wing one for Gardiner.
