Eighty-two Lions Clubs across the state of Maine are currently holding fundraisers to raise $76,000 to purchase and install a standby generator for the Good Shepard Food-Bank in Auburn. The Good Shepard serves as the clearinghouse for food donated for food cupboards across the state. The standby generator is needed because a power outage of more than a few hours could result in the loss of thousands of pounds of perishable products.

The Unique Meals Committee of the Belfast Lions Club will hold a soup, chowder and chili supper on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Waldo County Shrine Club.

On the menu are seafood gumbo, fish chowder, corn chowder, beef stew and sweet and hot chili, along with biscuits, rolls and cornbread and homemade desserts.

There will also be raffles and door prizes.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
