Charles Hamm, fine arts teacher at Belfast Area High School, snapped this photo recently and sent it in to VillageSoup. He explains, “The eagles are putting on a great show on Lake Quantabacook. I took this photo this morning [Jan. 17]. It’s an immature eagle that I recognize from last year. He has more white, now that he’s getting a little older. I believe it’s a male due to his smaller stature compared to a couple of the other eagles I often observe.” Lake Quantabacook is located primarily in Searsmont, with a small portion in Morrill. It stretches from just below Route 3 in the north toward Route 131 in the south.
