Norman S. Robbins, 63, died Jan. 24, 2010, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H.

He was born in Waverly, N.Y., April 29, 1946, a son of Charles S. and Mildred (Depew) Robbins. He attended Waverly High School and graduated with the class of 1964. In 1994 he graduated from Hesser College in New Hampshire. He was a resident of Raymond for 40 years.

Norman enlisted in the Navy in 1964, serving six years’ active duty aboard destroyers. He worked for Raytheon Marine and Sorensen in Manchester, N.H., for 25 years and Raytheon MSD in Andover, Mass., for seven years, retiring in 2004.

Norman enjoyed camping, traveling, wintering in Brooksville, Fla., and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, Arlene L. (Morse) Robbins, of Raymond, whom he married Sept. 9, 1968, at Morrill Baptist Church; three brothers, Arthur, Franklin and William Robbins; four sisters, Patricia Sulger-Phelan, Charolette Petty, Ida Shipman and Shirley Howard; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Pauline L. (Warman) Thomas, of Belfast; six sisters-in-law, Cheryl Perry, Shelia Fuller, Kathy Morin, Sharon Lee, Cindy Shaw, Dolores Davis and their families; and special friends Lorn Munson and Art Decker.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Louis Robbins; and a sister, Louise Ennis.

Visitation will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, N.H., Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 2-3 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. Following cremation, private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
