An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity between Jan. 19 and Jan. 26.

Jan. 16 (late entry)

Paul F. Weiss, 62, of Bar Harbor was summoned for speeding 69 mph in a 50 mph posted zone on Route 3 in Liberty.

Jan. 17 (late entry)

Michelle A. Pendleton, 19, of Belmont was summoned for operating with an expired license more than 90 days past-due.

Jan. 21

At 11:10 a.m. Adam J. Hamlyn, 23, of Wells, who was driving a 1999 Ford sport-utility vehicle, pulled out to pass a 2004 Jeep SUV on Albion Road in Troy. The driver of the Jeep, Heather L. McGahagin, 20, of Pocomoke, Md., was turning left into a driveway. Hamlyn struck the driver’s side of the Jeep. There were no injuries. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $1,000 and $3,000 to the Jeep.

At 10:55 a.m. Jeffrey W. Curtis, 41, of Unity, who was driving a 2003 Ford pickup truck on the South Horseback Road in Burnham, pulled out to pass two vehicles that were driving slowly. As he passed the vehicles, he noticed the front vehicle had its blinker on to turn left into a driveway. Curtis hit the brakes to slow down, lost control and struck a snow bank. Curtis was not injured, but his vehicle received $1,000 in damage.

At 2:10 a.m. Jennifer J. Smedberg, 35, of Burnham lost control of a 2004 GMC SUV on Prairie Road in Unity due to the slush. The vehicle left the road on the right side and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop. There were no injuries and damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

Selby S. Clark, 31, of Palermo was summoned for operating after suspension and speeding 58 mph in a 45 mph zone on North Palermo Road in Palermo.

Jan. 23

Paul S. Downing, 29, of Detroit was arrested on a warrant for unpaid fines and fees. He also was summoned for operating after suspension and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Brian Rafuse, 46, of Montville was arrested for violating a condition of release, possession of scheduled drugs and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

Jan. 24

Michael J. Chasse, 39, of Freedom was summoned for domestic assault.

John H. Snowe, 40, of Palermo was summoned for furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess liquor.

James A. Poulin, 41, of Palermo was summoned for obstructing government administration, disorderly conduct and possession of a usable amount of marijuana.

Teresa C. Leathers, 37, of Brooks was summoned for an inspection sticker violation.
