The documentary “Numen: The Nature of Plants” will be shown Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. The 95-minute documentary film focuses on the healing power of plants in the natural world.
Filmmakers Terrence Youk and Ann Armbrecht traveled the United States to speak with doctors and herbalists, ethnobotanists and others about how our disconnection from nature affects human and environmental health. Their film explores how healing is made possible by embracing our place in the wider web of life and features stunning footage of medicinal plants and moving interviews.
“Numen” provides viewers with a new vision of medicine and offers concrete steps to improve individual health and well-being that also enhance the health of the earth.
The screening followed with a panel discussion of local herbalists lead by Gretchen Heilman of Alive and Awake Healing Arts and featuring special guests Bindy Pendleton, East Side Herbals; Lauren Buyofsky, New Forest Institute; and Jenna Labbe-Watson, Deep Roots Herbology.
The enlightening evening is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library at 338-3884, ext 10.
