A temperature of 14 degrees and a wind chill of 4 degrees did not stop members of three local fire departments from practicing ice-rescue operations Feb. 7 in Stockton Springs.

Twenty-six members of the Searsport, West Frankfort and Stockton Springs fire departments trained together at the fire pond on Harris Road. Despite the chilly temperature, Searsport Fire Chief Jim Dittmeier said everyone stayed warm in the cold water suits.

These teams will work together should a rescue be required.
