Searsport Head Start students were treated to stories, songs and dance by a Native American couple Feb. 10.

The annual event ties in with a multicultural unit at the school. This is the fourth year Roger and Evelyn Simmons of Swanville have visited with the children.

The Simmonses, whose Native American names are Lame Owl and White Dove, taught the children a number of songs and also explained their instruments. Evelyn Simmons also read students the book “Stranger in the Woods.”

The children, who are between 3 and 5 years old, made their own instruments to play along.

The couple also visited the Unity Head Start on Jan. 27.
