Neighbors to a Bayview Street home alerted police to a party involving minors Feb. 13.

The tip resulted in five adults under the age of 21 being charged and at least seven juveniles.

At about 11:50 p.m., Belfast police received a noise complaint about 2 Bayview St. and the callers suspected underage drinking at the residence.

Sgt. Walter Corey responded to the street and sat in his cruiser and observed several people whom he knew to be underage inside the home drinking, according to Belfast Police Chief Jeff Trafton.

When police approached the home, people were jumping out of windows, hiding in crawl spaces and bedrooms of the home, Trafton said.

In total, police were able to round up 14 people.

Charged in the incident were:

Evan D. Finley, 18, of Belfast was charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol, furnishing alcohol by a minor and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Michael A. Ripley, 19, of Belfast, Mark R. White, 20, of Searsmont and Dexter M. Look, 20, of Belfast were all charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

Matthew J. Cynewski, 19, of Northport was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor by consumption.

At least seven juveniles (under 18 years old) were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor by consumption, Trafton said. Those teens were issued summonses and then released to their parents.

Belfast Police and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office have a no-tolerance policy when it comes to underage drinking. Trafton said they issue no warnings in underage-drinking cases.
