Three local men were arrested Feb. 17 in connection with several burglaries in Thorndike, Montville, Brooks and Liberty after a weekend-long investigation by local authorities.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency about a possible burglary at the Thorndike Fire Station. The burglary was reported to the sheriff’s office Feb. 12.

The investigation into the Thorndike burglary led to the discovery of several other burglaries and thefts at Bartlett Garage in Montville, ice shacks on Lake St. George in Liberty and from Roaring Acres Storage Units in Brooks.

Arrested and charged in the case are: Chad A. Overlock, 34, of Belfast for burglary and theft, Christopher Beeton, 21, of Belfast for two counts of burglary and two counts of theft and Cameron B. Philbrook, 34, of Northport for receiving stolen property.

On Feb. 16, Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies and agents from the MDEA searched homes on Robbins Road in Belfast and Hollow Lane in Northport. Maine State Police also assisted in the Hollow Lane search.

As a result, ice fishing traps, an ice fishing basket, bolt cutters, a table saw, a chop saw and an ice auger were seized from the two homes.

Overlock and Beeton are also charged in connection with stealing a Dodge pickup truck with a plow in Montville. The truck was recovered on Kingdom Road in Montville and, according to police, it had been completely vandalized by the thieves.

The investigation continues and police say more charges are likely.
