Students in the culinary arts program at Waldo County Technical Center will host a dinner to raise money for a Haitian technical center destroyed during the Jan. 12 earthquake.

The students will prepare a dinner of Haitian entrées and visitors will enjoy musical sounds from the country while dining.

Students in the horticulture program will decorate the dining space.

The dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the technical center, which is located at 1022 Waterville Road (Route 137) in Waldo. The cost is a $10 donation.

The students will be preparing griot — stewed pork flavored with citrus — red beans and rice. The beans will be cooked with ham hocks. They also will serve a chicken stew made with plantains, sweet potato and pumpkin squash.
