A single-vehicle crash Feb. 23 sent the driver of the vehicle to the hospital, while two young passengers were uninjured.

Winterport Fire Chief Tom Doe said the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday when the female driver, whose name he did not have, was making a turn from Route 69 onto Boston Road.

The woman, who was driving a late-model Saturn Ion, “appeared to be going a little too fast” making a right turn at the steeply graded intersection, Doe said. She lost control of the car, which turned on its side, totaling the vehicle.

The driver was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Her two children, both in car seats, were fine, Doe said.

In addition to the Winterport Fire Department, Winterport Ambulance Service and the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded.
