Future MSAD 3 officials have announced a new $5,000 matching gift for First Things First, the $124,000 fund drive supporting the ground work for future athletic enhancements at the new K-12 Mount View School in Thorndike.

The contribution from an anonymous couple will match, dollar-for-dollar, all contributions between $1 and $4,999, up to $5,000 to the campaign to fund water and electrical conduit for Mount View’s new and existing athletic fields, and water, power and sewer lines to a planned outdoor concession building. Contributions to both First Things First and The Heritage Fund will be matched, since both funds support the campaign for Mount View athletic enhancements.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for donors who have not yet supported the First Things First campaign to have their contribution doubled,” said Alicia J. Nichols, Future MSAD 3 Campaign Director. Thousands of Mount View alumni and district residents received a letter last fall asking for their support of First Things First.

“We are tremendously grateful to these generous donors, a Mount View graduate from the class of 1989 and his wife, for their support of our work on behalf of SAD 3 youth,” Nichols said.

“We always say no gift is too small. We can’t emphasize enough that every dollar contributed brings us one step closer to the goal of raising $124,000 — and this new match will help to raise an additional $5,000, which is a great boost,” added Nichols.

First Things First is the initial phase of a capital campaign for Mount View athletics. Future must raise $56,000 as soon as possible to complete the funding for the infrastructure that was put in place at Mount View’s athletic complex last summer and fall. The underground infrastructure needed to be in first — before any other athletic enhancements can be added. To date more than $68,000 has been raised in contributions and pledges from 290 donors.

Funds raised through First Things First support areas not covered by the state or the district and provides water and electrical conduit to new and existing athletic fields, and water, power and sewer lines to a planned outdoor concessions building.

While a new, permanent outdoor concession building to include athletic storage areas and public restrooms will be funded later during a major capital campaign, Future is now raising funds for the building’s utilities that have been put in place and capped — water, power and sewer.

Future MSAD 3 is a nonprofit organization run by a board of 19 community volunteers. Its mission is to raise funds to enhance particular areas in the new Mount View School complex not covered by state funding.
