May L. Small, 96, died Feb. 26, 2010, at a local health care facility.
She was born in Swanville, July 29, 1913, the daughter of Charles and Leona (Lenfest) Small.
May worked for many years as a stitcher at the Belfast pants factory, and after their closing she traveled daily to Van Balen’s in Rockland until her retirement. She loved hunting and camping with her husband Ephraim and their family. In her later years, having breakfast downtown and visiting the local shops filled her time.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ephraim; a son, David; a brother, Herbert; an infant sister, Carrie, and two infant brothers. Surviving May are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Phyllis Small of Searsport; a sister, Gladys Waterman of Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Kevin, Barry, Allan, James and Betsey; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchilden; an aunt; several nieces nephews; and grand-nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral home Tuesday, March 2, from 4-6 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at the Smart Cemetery with Pastor Rick Lambert officiating. Friends are invited to make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice in May’s memory.
