Eleanor M. Snowdale, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 28 2010, in Belfast with her loving family by her side. She was born in Stoughton, Mass. July 15, 1923, the daughter of Walter and Esther (Beale) Parent.

In 1944 she married her husband, Charles W. Snowdale. She worked in customer service at the Stoughton Cooperative Bank for 42 years. Eleanor enjoyed knitting things for the church fair, reading, working jigsaw puzzles and her daily visits to Coastal Coffee in Searsport. She was very active in the First Congregational Church of Searsport, serving as assistant treasurer and also with the Women’s Fellowship Group.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles; one son, Robert Snowdale, and his wife, Jayne of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Susan Perry, and her husband, George of Orono; four grandchildren, Emma Snowdale, Benjamin Perry, Rebecca Snowdale and Daniel Perry; as well as several cousins.

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at the First Congregational Church of Searsport. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Church Vestry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Searsport Congregational-Methodist Food Cupboard, in care of Sally Tripp, 213 Black Hill Road, Frankfort, ME 04438.
