R Space, the Midcoast’s new all-ages music venue, will host an all-ages, chem-free Electronic Dance Music Showcase with four DJs and VJ Foo Friday, March 12.

The music will flow from 7 to 10 p.m. in the lower level of Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, 24 Lincoln St. Admission at the door will be $5. The DJs will be presenting jungle, drum & bass, techno, house, breakbeats, dubstep and electronica. Anyone younger than 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Organizing the show is Magnetic Artists, a Maine-based organization dedicated to creating and presenting art through technology with mixed and live techno music, photography, computer graphics, light shows, multi-media art, film and more. DJ Brad “Elusid” Knight, originally from the Camden area, will host the showcase, which features DJs Rick “Psydways” Kidson, founder of the annual BelTek arts and music festival in Belmont and host of WERU’s “The Track Lab”; Dan “Seratto” Woodrow, Jr. (subsurfaced.net); and Jonek@t. Joshua “Foo” Gates will offer live visuals and video mixing by using interactive media.

R Space at Lincoln Street Center is a new venue created to present music and performing and visual art for and by the youth of the Midcoast community in a safe environment free from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Along with providing good music, future plans include instruction in a number of aspects of music, encouraging local youth participation and providing opportunities in the musical arts.
