An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County during the past week. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

March 1
Trooper Shawn Porter stopped Rodney Lesan, 19, on Greer Road in Morrill for a vehicle defect. Lesan was summoned for possession of marijuana. A 17-year-old male was summoned for possession of alcohol by consumption and released to his mother. Trooper Bethany Couturier assisted with the stop.

Trooper Jonah O’Roak investigated the report of a theft from Robinson Schoolhouse Road in Morrill. The complainant reported the theft of two Volkswagen seats from a garage. The investigation continues.

March 2
Couturier received a report of an ongoing phone harassment complaint in Belmont. The complainant reported receiving threatening messages. Further investigation revealed the messages were not threatening but were over a previous debt. The caller was warned for phone harassment.

March 3
Couturier stopped Randy Lamar, 22, of Appleton on Route 131 in Searsmont. Lamar was summoned for operating after suspension.

Couturier stopped Bryan Rolerson, 21, of Liberty on Route 3 in Searsmont for a vehicle defect. Rolerson was summoned for operating after suspension and attaching false plates.

March 4
Porter and K-9 Tex assisted Waldo County Sheriff’s Office with the report of a prowler on Windemere Lane in Unity.

March 5
Trooper Luke Cunningham obtained an arrest warrant for Jesse Newton, 22, of Waldo for discharging a firearm near a dwelling. Newton was arrested on the warrant without incident. Sgt. Tom Ballard and Waldo County Sheriff’s Detective Matt Curtis and Deputy Gerry Lincoln assisted.

Trooper Jonathan Russell assisted Waldo County Sheriff’s Office with a report of an armed robbery at Patterson’s Store in Burnham.

March 6
Couturier investigated a report of criminal mischief in Morrill. The complainant reported someone had slashed all four tires on his Volkswagen Beetle. The investigation is ongoing.

Trooper Donald Webber stopped Alan Andrews, 55, of Augusta on Route 3 in Palermo for speeding. Andrews was summoned for speeding and arrested for possession of cocaine.

Couturier investigated the theft of a 2006 Yamaha dirt bike from a garage in Palermo. The investigation continues.

Sgt. David Tripp stopped Timothy Connor, 24, on Route 3 in Belmont. Connor was summoned for operating after suspension.

Tripp stopped a vehicle on Route 141 in Swanville. Passenger Dawn Light, 26, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to Waldo County Jail.
