As part of the process for finding a new superintendent, SAD 3 will be holding a public forum tonight, March 10, to solicit input from the community.

The forum will take place in the Mount View High School library, starting at 7 p.m.

The need to hire a new superintendent arose after current Superintendent Joe Mattos announced at the end of last year that he would be retiring in 2010. He originally said his retirement would take effect Sept. 30, but after more discussion with the board changed that date to June 30.

The search for a new superintendent will be conducted by a 10-member search committee, made up of five school board members and five district employees.

The idea of having a community member on the search committee was discussed, but board members decided to instead use the public forum as a means of getting input from the community.
