Belfast Area High School’s art portfolio class welcomed elementary students to their classroom March 10 to make masks.

A group of fourth- and fifth-graders from Captain Albert Stevens School, along with art teacher Jessica Porter, made casts of their faces in BAHS fine arts teacher Charles Hamm’s class.

Hamm said as part of the art portfolio class, he often offers activities outside of the classroom. Hamm and Porter decided to get the students together after some teens in his class expressed an interest in teaching art as a future career.

High school students spent the morning working with the elementary school students to create face masks and plan to get together at a later date to paint and decorate their creations.
