Jean Mae Smith, 96, died March 9, 2010, at Windward Gardens, where she had resided for several years.

Born in Canada June 11, 1913, she was a daughter of Alfred E. and Emma R. (Oagles) Davis and was a graduate of Sylvester High School In Hanover, Mass.

She married Edgar L. Smith and they resided in Weymouth, Mass., for many years. Mrs. Smith had been active with 4-H Clubs and enjoyed her flower gardens. A homemaker most of her life, she had worked as a cook for a local physician, Dr. Strong.

Mrs. Smith spent many happy times traveling throughout the United States and Canada with her husband. Being an excellent cook, she enjoyed dining out at restaurants and experiencing different cuisine with family and friends. In the early 1970s Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to South Montville, where she was active in the South Montville Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Edith Tolman, and her husband, Guild, of Camden and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar L. Smith, who died in 1973; and six brothers, Alfred, John, George, Ronald, Ernest and Harold Davis.

A funeral service was held March 16 at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 18 at 1 p.m. at the Center Cemetery in Hanover, Mass.
