Blaire E. Horton-Delano, 28, died March 14, 2010, at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born July 26, 1981, in Belfast, she was the daughter of Susan Horton and Keith Chase. Blaire spent the first 12 years of her life in the Liberty/Montville area and attended Walker Memorial Elementary School. She later moved to Rockland, where she attended school, ultimately earning her GED from the Camden Community School. While there, Blaire formed a lasting friendship with Deidre Sousa, whom she considered her mentor.

Blaire was happily married to Jason Delano in July 2008 at Payson Park in Warren.

Blaire was employed with Reny’s in Damariscotta for a few months over Christmas. Her family said this was her favorite place of employment and she was looking forward to rejoining their team this spring. She had a love of people and clothing, which she was able to revel in while at Reny’s. Blaire also loved to tend bar, which she was very good at. Her family said she loved shopping; if Blaire wanted something or wanted to do something, she was going to get it or do it, no matter what it took.

Housekeeping was never high on Blaire’s list of things to do. She would rather pay someone to do it than do it herself. Her sister remembered that Blaire would offer her $20 to clean while she sat and watched.

Blaire was a people person and had more friends than her family ever thought possible. They said you couldn’t say her name without someone saying, “Oh, I know Blaire.” She had a great personality, and was the life of the party wherever she went; even when she was “fashionably late,” as she was most of the time. Her brother-in-law was quoted as saying she was the “Drama queen of her own world.”

One of Blaire’s greatest joys in life was her children and she loved spending time with them, whether it was reading to them, playing outside or everything they did together in everyday life. Her kids were her heroes.

Blaire is survived by her husband, Jason Delano, of Friendship; a daughter, MacKenzie, and a son, Conner Horton, of Friendship; her mother, Sue Horton, and her companion, Karl Hoffmann, of Tenants Harbor; her father, Keith Chase, of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Michael Horton of Rockland and Sean Saucier of Dover-Foxcroft; three sisters, Jessica Weldon and her husband, Sam, of South Thomaston, Kelly Walsh and her companion, Ed Maldonado, of Owls Head and Jennifer and her daughter, Morgan; her nieces, Lilah Weldon, Alaina Lenteri and Kellie-Ann Losier; the father of her daughter with whom she remained close, John Wilkinson, of Augusta; her parents-in-law, James and Debbie Delano, of Friendship; as well as her husband’s siblings, Jacob, Tina, Elizabeth, James, Anna, Jessica and Jamie-Katherine; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, March 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wallace Simmons will officiate. Interment will be held in the spring. Reception will be posted Friday night.
