Ceramic artist Randy Fein of Lincolnville invites the public to her Belfast studio to view her recently completed commission, a clay relief tile sculpture titled “Above and Below.” The work was made from 600 pounds of wet clay.

The open studio will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 9, in Room 428 of the Belfast Center, at the corner of High and Field streets. Refreshments will be served to celebrate the completion of Fein’s achievement.

Fein began the clay work for “Above and Below” in October. Creating clay sculpture is a long and rewarding process, she said. This work is a 12-by-6-foot relief that will be permanently installed in a Boston home as a tub surround for a child’s bath.

“Come to view the work before it leaves Maine,” said the artist.
